Abstract In functionally graded heat-resisting material, the volume fraction of constituents varies and continuously, these are examined for high temperature engineering applications. By spatial distribution thermal behaviour FGMs is strongly influenced. Thus, determination becomes a critical part in FGM design given loading condition specification. present work, averaging estimation approach viz, modified rule mixture considered. The work concerned with Optimization Composition better environment material. investigation carried out uniform heating through plate thickness. Classical laminate theory used to determine residual stress. code developed on MATLAB constrained minimization function ‘fmincon’ employed. comparative study three different presented. effectiveness stress explored various boundary conditions.
